Rachel Nichelson // Motherhood

Meet Rachel she is a stay at home, working mom to Owen (11), Claire (9) and Tate (3). She home schools all three kids, and designs a women's fashion line called Madeline Wood.

What does the role of "mother" mean to you?

To me it simply means to nurture.  As a mother,  I am called to feed, protect, support, encourage, love and care for, laugh and comfort, and most of all train and educate them on what I believe to be true and right.

What is the best advice you have ever received when it comes to motherhood?

"Slow down and enjoy these moments. They are only little for a very short time. "  I have found this to be so true.  Especially in those moments when I wish they could take care of themselves. The years go by fast and it is easy to forget.  Reminding myself daily to cherish these moments I have with them.

How do you like to spend days with your little one?

We love to be outdoors, riding pretty much anything with wheels, creating and making art, reading, and listening to Adventures in Odessey together. We will spend part of the day doing school work, part of the day playing and the other part is spent going to baseball practice or ballet or up to their dad's studio to practice and play music.

What do you find most important in your role as a mother?

I believe it is essential for my children to know God and have a relationship with Him.  It is my goal each day to show them Gods love, study His word together and live out His commands.  Easier said than done, life gets in the way sometimes,  but we work at a little bit each day.
