Jane Upshaw // Motherhood
Meet Jane. She is a stay at home mother of two and a contract Social Worker. Ruby is four and Rufus is one.
What does the role of "mother" mean to you?
Being "mother" means I've been given those two sweet souls to nurture and guide.
What is the best advice you have ever received when it comes to motherhood?
A few pieces of advice have really stuck with me. 1) Say "Yes" as often as you can. 2) Go with your gut, no two children are the same. 3) Let them be children. 4) Choose love.
How do you like to spend days with your little one?
We start our days with a leisurely breakfast then play around the house doing things like painting, building towers or running circles. Then we usually have a play date around Denton at a park, friends house or coffee shop. One of our favorite things to do is go to the Dallas Arboretum with a picnic and run around, we go once a week during warm weather. We love open spaces to play. Water is another favorite for us we go to the city pool, or a splash park, or a back yard with a sprinkler. At home we love to read books in bed, play in the yard, snack and snuggle on the sofa watching shows.
What do you find most important in your role as a mother?
Loving my children is most important. My goal is to raise compassionate, loving people who act on their convictions. So I think, what's important is for me to strive to model that for my children.
