Ginger Dunton// Motherhood
I am excited to announce I am starting a new series titled "Motherhood". This series will feature a new mom every two weeks.
"Motherhood is not a hobby, it’s a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. You do not raise children if you can squeeze the time in. Motherhood is what God gave you time for. " - RACHEL JANKOVIC
Ginger is an Image and Beauty Consultant and Mary Kay star team leader which means she has to work her schedule around being a stay at home mom.
She is a mother to Ruby who is 6 1/2 and Charlie Enzo who is 5.
What does the role of "mother" mean to you?
I think there is something very important about the love that goes into the decision of any woman to give birth, however, to me being a mother is giving of yourself daily for your children. Not just taking care of their daily needs but doing the hard work of deciding what's best for them and taking responsibility for them.
What is the best advice you have ever received when it comes to motherhood?
I, thankfully, have received lots of wisdom over the years but I think the two things that keep coming into play are "You're not just raising kids, you're training then to become adults." and "God gave these kids to you. No one else. At the end of the day, you're their mom and you will decide what's best."
How do you like to spend days with your little one?
That has changed a lot recently as Ruby is now in school and Charlie will join her there in the fall. But on Saturdays or during the afternoons I like to watch them interact with one another and solve problems as they play. It's amazing to me that not that long ago I used to watch them sit and just chew on everything they could get their hands on.
What do you find most important in your role as a mother?
My own personal growth and health. If I am not grounded, trusting I'm loved and taking care of my basic needs I am really not able to take care of and love them.
